Merry Christmas Mum

Hi Mummy Darling,

Wishing you a very merry Christmas.

We hosted today with all of the family together for Christmas for the first time since you went to sleep.

It has been a lovely but tiring day.

We opened stockings first thing ( our girls were up at 6am).

Abigail had to make doubly sure there were no presents left.

 We then went down to open our presents under the tree. The usual huge amount that Mike and I never agree on 😁.

And they had a present each from their elves to say goodbye. Abigail was very upset about Candy leaving.

They were so excited about everything they got Mum and we spent the next hour building, playing and sticking stickers on toys.

I tried to make the table magical like you used to…

My turkey came out of the oven looking amazing and Dad complimented me loads on how beautifully it was cooked. 😊 x

Beth took the girls for a walk in the woods whilst we finished dinner. Dad really helped Mum, genuinely 😂. I was ever so grateful.

We then had a lovely dinner with the kids table in the living room and us in the dining room. 

They were SO well behaved Mum, you would’ve been so proud and it was really lovely to have them all together. ❤

Vics wrote the most lovely poem to you which she read for the toast. Yes I did cry.

‘Christmas Time is a time to celebrate love

One thing we were all taught by our lovely lady above

She showed what it is to love and care

What was really important and made us all share!! 

It is with heavy hearts she is not here today

My family together – that is all she’d say

She’d be so proud of everyone here

She whoop, laugh and grin from ear to ear

Nearly 3 years on and so sorely missed

You as our mum, your wise words, your hugs and obviously….being kissed

Your children have grown and their children too

Obviously you know this…I feel that you have the best view 

Now…as we sit here all quietly together

Let us remember mum, in our hearts, now and forever xxx

It sums up the day Mum, bitter sweet. A lovely day with something big missing.

We arranged your message idea and gave everybody gift tags to write on and leave a message, they are hanging on our little Christmas tree.

The rest of the day was clearing up, games and snacks.

Love and miss you Mum every day but today a bit more.

Hi Mum,

My heart aches.

I can’t believe we’re nearly at another Christmas without you.

I would love to have a chat. Everything feels like it’s all a bit much at the mo.

Work pressure is so crazy it doesn’t even feel like it’s Christmas! There’s so much going on.

Mike and I have been to a few Christmas parties, without each other this year as no partners. They’ve been a good giggle.

The elves on the shelves have been up to no good each day with one of the girls’ favourites being when they put our pants on the Christmas tree 😂.

They have made flour angels, had movie nights with popcorn, played Destination Christmas and the other favourite is poohed in a glass 😂😂😂.

I’m really enjoying making it all a bit magical for them. X

We went to the Tree of Love at the Hospice. It was as lovely as always and it’s always good to sing a few carols especially when I’m singing loudly like you would Mum. Vics was really giggling. Obviously I got a bit tearful, the Tree of Love means so much in so many ways. Especially all the years you spent organising it.

Apart from that just desperately trying to get ready for Christmas, not long to go.

Father Christmas (aka Dad), came to Jiu Jitsu so they got to see him 😍.

I so wish you were here Mum.

Here as my support.

Here for the big day where we are going to all be together for the first time for Christmas since you’ve been gone.

We’ll have fun Mum and I will make it as magical as possible as I know that’s what you would want but there’s going to be a feeling and knowing that someone and something is missing all day.

Nearly Christmas..

Hi Mummy Darling,

How are you?

We’re going through the usual run up to Christmas madness.

We had family day in Birmingham, of course. Our girls got to make snow globes and reindeer hot chocolates. They enjoyed the disco but I think Chloe is my going to enjoy it for much longer, in her words she found some of it ‘quite childish, especially Elsa and Anna’.

We are having great fun with the elves that arrived on 1st December from the North Pole. They are getting up to all kinds of mischief in our house.

I had the big Saga Christmas party Mum, it was good fun x

I didn’t drink too much though as Vics had a spa morning with Kiri so I had the girls. They are all growing into beautiful young ladies Mum and Amelia is just gorgeous. You would love spending time with them all.

In the evening we went to the Tree of Love at the Hospice. Why is it no matter how much time passes I find it so hard to go there? 

You were there for such a short time of your battle, 10 days out of 3 years but it was the end….

It was a lovely service and we sang loudly for you Mum 😁.

It’s the 1st December

Hi Mummy darling,

How are you? Are you sleeping well?

It’s December Mum. I just love this time of year. There is such a magic about Christmas. The twinkly lights, the atmosphere, the excitement in our house with our girls.

I miss you so much and nothing is the same but I do love this time of year.

Our elves on the shelves have arrived with pyjamas for the girls and their advent calendars.

I know it means I have got to come up with something for the elves to do each morning but I can’t wait to see our girls’ reactions.

Mike and I are getting everything together as we are hosting the Grundy Christmas. A small part of me is worried but as you taught me I just need to plan it all out and everything will be good. I wish you were here to help.
