Letters to my Mum

So many changes…

Hi Mummy Darling,

How are you?

How much can happen in 2 weeks you may ask….. Well it seems quite a lot.

For Children in Need the girls’ school had a hero theme so they had to choose a hero to dress up as.

Madison went as Spider-Man, Abigail as Elsa. Chloe chose to go as her Grandma. πŸ˜ƒ.

You would’ve been so proud Mum. I asked her what she remembered you wearing and Dad still had your coat that she wanted.

On the Saturday Chloe ran the Cross Country for her school at the County Showground, she did really well Mum, running a mile in 6mins 12 seconds and coming 77th out of 150.

Next we got our other 2 their new glasses which they are really pleased with.

And Vics found out she’s having a baby girl (we obvs don’t have enough pink in our family)

There are 2 bits of big news in our house over the last week as well.

1. Mike has been promoted to Business Manager Mum. It is what he has wanted for ages as you know. I am SO pleased and proud of him.

We were talking the other day about what you would’ve written in your text to him. He really wishes you were here so he could tell you.

And 2. Dan has gone on secondment for 6 months so I have stepped up to be Digital Lead for that time… It’s quite a big undertaking but I’m up for the challenge 😁.

I really wish you were here so I could talk to you about it all. Just to have you tell me it’s going to be ok 😘.

We had Isabelle to stay last weekend. She’s so good Mum, it gave Vics a break (which I know you would’ve done) and the girls all got to sleep in together.

Chloe’s been invited to her first slumber party on Friday, she’s a bit excited and we of course, have been married for 11 years on Friday…… 11 years!!! X

I wish you were here to celebrate with us x

I love and miss you a whole heap Mum.

All my love

Centreparcs was a lovely weekend

Hi Munmy darling,

How are you?

Centreparcs was lovely, thank you so much for starting it and I love that we are carrying on with your ‘gift of time’.

It was just us girls this year with Dad joining us for the day on the Sunday.

We crammed as much as we could into our weekend.

On the Friday I had to take the girls to the hospital for their eye check (which was meant to have been in July!).

They did their re-measure and gave me new prescriptions and I saw the consultant about Madison’s squint. She has referred her for the surgery so it will be in the next 3 to 4 months.

I’ve done what I always try to do and talked to Madison about it all and she has been telling other people so it’s good that she understands.

Once we had finished that we headed to Centreparcs, we went back to Elveden this year.

Mike, my amazing husband had already cooked 2 shepherds pies so we took them with us.

The Friday night was just unpacking, eating, letting the girls be excited about being together and then getting them all to bed.

Saturday, your birthday, we seemed to cram as much as we could into a day. We went separately to the smaller ones for the morning.

First we took our girls swimming, which was so different even with only 2 swimming lessons. Chloe is so confident in the water now, it is great.

Afterwards we had pony rides for them and took them for some lunch.

After lunch we had a go at carving some pumpkins whilst Vic went for a treatment. I think Si did the best job.

We gave the girls a play in the park whilst Beth and Si left for their treatment so Mog was too busy to notice.

Then we went to Roller Tots for the girls and Mike took Chloe to climb the trees. It made me think about us walking past it when Chloe was little and talking about when she’ll be big enough. Well it’s now Mum!

The girls at roller tots was hilarious Mum, you would’ve laughed and laughed.

Richard came with Isabelle and Mogs as Vics was finishing her treatment as Beth and Si went for theirs.

I thought it was going to be an introductory lesson for them in how to roller skate but nope! It was a put the skates on and now play some games.

There’s me with one on each arm, desperately trying to hold them both up whilst they’ve got legs like Bambi as the guy running the lesson starts playing red, amber green.

In the red we’re meant to stop! On amber go slow! And on green go as fast as you can!! I couldn’t stop, let alone go slow or fast. Richard was absolutely laughing his head off.

When Vics arrived he took Madison for me and I had Abigail. They did become sturdier as it went ok but 20 minutes wasn’t long enough.

Once we were all back together we had our birthday tea for you Mum and sent you up some balloons, I hope you got them.

There was a Halloween disco in the evening so we took the girls to it. They had great fun dancing.

On the Sunday Dad came and joined us for the day which was lovely.

We hired a Cabana in the swimming pool for the whole morning, so we could swim a bit and chill a bit, it was a great idea of Beth’s.

For us the swimming was far less stressful now our girls are having swimming lessons, they even loved the waves.

After swimming, I took Madison and Abigail to Little Robin Hoods and Chloe went to the big version with Mike.

The girls and Chloe loved it.

We had the family photo shoot after archery and then went for the obligatory Hucks meal, which the kids loved, except Chloe as she was bored in another soft play!

When did she grow up so much Mum?!?

The other thing we noticed is that next year she will be above the height that the children have to be to go in all of the soft play!!!

She said it’s ok as she’ll be going in to look after her cousins πŸ˜„.

After Hucks we went to the firework display that they were putting on.

Mogs wasn’t so keen but Isabelle and our girls loved it.

I still love the Centreparcs weekend Mum, mainly for what it stands for that you introduced but it was a lot harder this year being back at Elveden and not having you there.

Of course we have all of the memories of being there with you which on the one hand I love but on the other hand just kept overwhelming me at times.

I missed having you there terribly.

It was a lovely weekend though and always fab to spend time with my family.

Last weekend we have th PFA fireworks night up at the girls’ school.

Dad was great and took the girls for me so I could head up there.

I was at the school from 12pm until 8pm and felt terrible leaving the others still clearing up but I was being chased to go to the Pestridges.

We did so well Mum, we pretty much sold out of everything!

The Treasurer has emailed last night to confirm that we raised a whopping Β£4,030.

I am so pleased Mum and pleased that all of the hard work was worth it.

Love and miss you loads Mum

Love

Me
